Organics Program
Participate in our organics diversion programs! Depot Molok Organic collection is available throughout the County. Curbside Organic collection is available to Bridgenorth residents.
Depot Molok Organic Drop-off
Organic drop-offs are available to Peterborough County residents in North Kawartha (Anstruther), Trent Lakes (Buckhorn), Cavan Monaghan (Syer Line), Havelock-Belmont-Methuen (6th Line), and Douro-Dummer (Hall's Glen) transfer stations. Organic materials are accepted free of charge.
Curbside Organics Collection
A curbside green bin program is available to Bridgenorth residents.
Absolutely no plastic, including biodegradable or compostable bags, can go in our organics programs.
Organic material is brought to the Peterborough Compost Facility to be turned into compost – A nutrient-rich fertilizer which improves soil health and contributes to a circular economy.
Residents can use certified compostable liners to keep their green bin clean. These bags can also be used for pet waste.
Two types of liner bags are accepted:
- Paper liner bags: Available at local stores, these bags don’t need certification logos. You can also use any paper bag. When placing your green bin at the curb, loosen the liner from the bin's sides and bottom.
- Certified compostable liner bags: Made from plant-based material, these bags are tested to fully compost. Only certified compostable bags with the BPI or Certified Compostable logos are accepted in our Green Bin program.
Note: Non-certified bags, like "oxo-degradable" products, are not accepted and cannot be processed at our facility.
