Circular Economy

The future of waste management in Peterborough County includes supporting a circular economy.

A circular economy keeps products and materials in use for as long as possible. Instead of throwing things out, we share, repair, reuse, and recycle. Local businesses can take part by choosing products that are built to last, easy to repair, and made from recyclable or renewable materials. Residents can take part through being intentional with their consumption and participating in options for repairing, reusing, and recycling in their community

Our Plan

The 2025 Waste Management Master Plan commits to incorporating circular economy initiatives throughout the development of waste management programs and including circular procurement policies.

Through Peterborough County waste management and sustainability programs we consider promoting how we as a community can reduce, reuse, repair, and recycle items, extending the usefulness of items and minimizing waste.
