Notice of Complete Application and Public Meeting for an Official Plan Amendment

Take notice that the Corporation of the County of Peterborough has received a complete application for an Official Plan Amendment in accordance with Section 22(6.4) of the Planning Act. The application has been assigned file number 15OP-25007.

 And take notice that the Township of Selwyn will hold a public meeting as outlined below to consider the proposed Official Plan Amendment under Section 22 of the Planning Act.

 Location

A Key Map is attached which indicates the location of the lands which are subject to the application. The lands are located on part of Lot 1, Concession 8 (Lakefield Ward) in the Township of Selwyn, having the municipal address of 8 Burnham Street.

Purpose and Effect of the Applications

The Official Plan currently designates these lands as “Main Central Area”. The proposed Official Plan Amendment application would redesignate the lands to “Low Density Residential” to facilitate the creation of a new residential lot by way of consent (severance).

In support of the application, the following documents were submitted:

• Draft Concept Plan
• Planning Justification Report, prepared by One Community Planning, dated May 3, 2025
• Stage 1/2 Archaeological Assessment, prepared by Northeastern Archaeological

Public Meeting Information

The statutory public meeting will take place:

Time:             1:30 pm

Location:      Council Chambers, Township of Selwyn, 1310 Centre Line, Selwyn, ON

Any person may attend the public meeting and/or make written or verbal representation either in support of or in opposition to the proposed Official Plan Amendment. All written submissions must be received by 11:00 am of the day of the Public Meeting.

The Right to Appeal

If  a person or public body would otherwise have an ability to appeal the decision of the Council of the County of Peterborough in respect of the proposed Official Plan Amendment (OPA) to the Ontario Land Tribunal but the person or public body does not make oral submissions at a public meeting or make written submissions to the County of Peterborough before the approval authority gives or refuses to give approval to the OPA, the person or public body is not entitled to appeal the decision of the approval authority to the decision.

If a person or public body does not make oral submissions at a public meeting or make written submissions to the County of Peterborough before the approval authority makes a decision regarding the amendment, the person or public body may not be added as a party to hearing of an appeal before the Ontario Land Tribunal unless, in the opinion of the Tribunal, there are reasonable grounds to do so.
