The Finance department provides accounting services to all County departments. It is also responsible for coordinating the annual budget, preparing the financial statements for the annual external audit, and financial reporting to the provincial and federal governments.
County residents who have questions about their property taxes should contact their local township.
Preparation of Peterborough County's budget is among the most important tasks for Council each year. The process is a lengthy one as the budget provides a foundation to meet the public service needs of our residents and to make decisions on municipal infrastructure.

Asset Management can be defined as an integrated business approach within an organization that minimizes the lifecycle costs of owning, operating, and maintaining assets, at an acceptable level of risk, while continuously delivering expected levels of service for present and future stakeholders.
The County's Asset Management Plan (AMP) was completed as required by the Ministry of Infrastructure.

The County budget is presented to council annually on the last Thursday of February.
The County completes the Financial Information Return each year for the Ministry of Municipal Affairs.
Audited financial statements are approved by County Council in May each year.
